Bharti Airtel has dismissed this report claiming that a major deal is going to happen between American company Amazon and Bharti Airtel. The report said that Amazon would buy a five per cent stake in Airtel for about Rs 15,000 crore. On this report, Airtel has said that it is not in talks with Amazon.

The news of the deal between Bharti Airtel and Amazon was first published by news agency Reuters on June 4. Earlier too, there were reports of a deal between Vodafone Idea and Google which was rejected by the company. In a note sent to the stock exchange, Airtel said, "We have received some media reports that are without any interaction with the companies concerned."

After news of the deal between Amazon and Airtel surfaced, Airtel's share prices saw a rise of six per cent. Amazon has not yet given any statement on this report. In April, Facebook bought a 9.99% stake in Reliance Jio for Rs 43,574 crore. After this, KKR and many other foreign companies have invested in Jio. UAE's Mubadala has also announced an investment of Rs 9,093 crore in Jio platforms.
