Mani Ratnam, one of the biggest directors of Hindi cinema, is now going to fulfill his heartfelt desire by making a film on Kalki Krishnamurthy's fictional historical novel Ponniyin Selvan. He expressed his desire to film a film adaptation of this novel 26 years ago, but the project is hanging in the balance due to lack of permission and financial support. In the last month of December last year, it was reported that the shooting of this film has started, in which a team of the best actors of Hindi and South cinema-like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vikram, Karthi, Trisha Krishnan, and Jayam Ravi are working.

Vikram and Aishwarya have worked together in the Hindi film 'Raavan', made under the direction of Mani Ratnam. The shooting of the first round of the film has been completed in Thailand in the month of January. Filming of the remaining part will now take place in different and real places across India. According to sources, the film is being made in two parts like 'Bahubali', the first part of which will be released in 2021. VFX technology is being used extensively to make the visuals impressive, and the actors are taking full care of their moves and costumes to bring authenticity to the story.
