New Delhi: Several Months ahead of  LS Elections 2019, Ajay Maken resigned as Delhi Congress chief. According to reports, he is expected to get a central role in the grand old party. With Citing of sources, Times Now channel reported that Congress president Rahul Gandhi has accepted Maken's resignation and called it a big slow down for the Congress party in Delhi.

Worth mention here Maken's resignation comes months ahead of the General Elections. Reports of his resignation surfaced only on Friday while Maken had, in a tweet on Thursday,  hinted that he might put down his papers as Delhi Congress chief.

I would like to thank the Congress workers in Delhi, media which covered Congress and Congress president Rahul Gandhi for all the love and support I received since I took over four years ago after the 2015 Assembly Elections. This was not easy. My heartfelt thanks,” he  released the statement in a by tweeting on micro blogging website on Thursday.  It is noted that Maken had taken over as the Delhi Congress chief after the Assembly elections in 2015.
