The movie, directed by Siruthai Siva, was a huge box office hit, with the theatres going houseful for a full 6-weeks. Having obtained the TV rights for Viswasam, Sun TV chose Labour Day, a holiday for many people, to telecast the blockbuster movie. The viewership numbers released for Viswasam show some 18.1 million viewers watched the movie giving it the No.1 position in the pegging order. The second on the list is the movie Pitchaikaran, starring Vijay Antony in the lead and directed by Sasi. In third position in the all-time TRP list is Bahubali 2, with the 4th place going to Sarkar in which Vijay plays the lead and was a box office hit too.
