The ongoing tension between uncle and nephew in Maharashtra politics since last month has increased further. The Election Commission has considered Ajit Pawar faction as the real Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). After which now the party is divided into two factions. Choosing the decision on 6 February, the Election Commission has given the name of the party to NCP and the election symbol to Ghadi Ajit faction. Along with this, the Election Commission has asked Sharad Pawar to give three names for his new political party and has given him time till 4 pm on Wednesday. While there is an atmosphere of celebration in the Ajit group due to the decision of the Election Commission, there is disappointment in the Sharad group. On Tuesday, Sharad Pawar had talked about approaching the Supreme Court against the decision of the Commission.

Ajit Pawar filed caveat petition in SC: Even before uncle Sharad Pawar approached the Supreme Court, nephew Ajit has also filed a caveat petition in the Supreme Court. In the petition on behalf of Ajit group, it has been demanded that no order should be given in any case filed by the opposition without hearing their side. Reports say that the caveat petition is a mechanism requesting the court not to give an ex-parte order.

Sharad Pawar was shocked by Ajit's departure: Not only this, on July 2 last year, Ajit Pawar had joined the Shinde government of Maharashtra along with many NCP MLAs. After this he was made the Deputy CM of Maharashtra. Sharad Pawar got a big shock due to this move of Ajit. After some time, Ajit announced the removal of Sharad Pawar from the post of National President of NCP and declared himself the new National President of the party.

Ajit's claim on party name and election symbol: After which Ajit staked his claim on the party name and election symbol and has also approached the Election Commission for this. Ajit group claimed that they have the majority and hence they have the right over the party. Whereas Sharad Pawar faction had appealed to the Commission to disqualify Ajit Pawar and the MLAs accompanying him.

Hearing was held 10 times in 6 months:  Not only this, this case was heard 10 times in 6 months, after which the Election Commission gave its verdict in favor of Ajit Pawar faction and also gave the name and election symbol of the party to them. The Commission says that Ajit's group has the majority in the number of MLAs, hence it got the name and election symbol of NCP. Expressing happiness over the Commission's decision, Ajit Pawar has said that in democracy, majority is always given importance, and we have the majority. This is the reason why the Election Commission has given them the name and election symbol of NCP.
