NEW DELHI: In a remarkable milestone for Indian aviation, Akasa Air, known for its commitment to environmental sustainability, has achieved yet another first by becoming the inaugural Asian airline to introduce the state-of-the-art Boeing 737 MAX 8-200 type aircraft. The momentous event took place on August 1st, as the aircraft, bearing the registration VT-YAV, gracefully touched down at Bengaluru International Airport, where it was greeted with a grand ceremonial reception.

Under the dynamic leadership of Vinay Dube, the Founder CEO, Akasa Air has accomplished the remarkable feat of growing its fleet to 20 aircraft within a mere span of 12 months since commencing operations. This extraordinary achievement not only signifies Akasa's exponential growth but also reflects the boundless potential of India's aviation sector.

Celebrating this milestone, Vinay Dube said, "Today marks a historic turning point in Akasa's journey towards international expansion. Going from zero to 20 aircraft within a year is an achievement that not only reflects Akasa's prowess but also echoes India's immense capabilities. We have consistently maintained the highest on-time performance throughout 2023, a testament to our unwavering commitment to passenger satisfaction."

Sharing their excitement with the world, the airline tweeted, "We are thrilled to welcome our 20th aircraft in Bengaluru today! With this remarkable addition, Akasa Air becomes the first airline in Asia to embrace the cutting-edge Boeing 737-8-200. #20AndCounting #ItsYourSky."

At the Paris Air Show 2023, Akasa placed an additional order for four more Boeing 737-8 aircraft, highlighting their ambitious international expansion plans. This supplements their initial order of 76 aircraft from the renowned American manufacturer.

The Boeing 737-8-200 sets new standards, combining exceptional airline economics with an unparalleled customer experience. This aircraft embodies the strength of the partnership between Akasa and Boeing, marking a significant milestone for both companies.

Since its inception nearly a year ago, Akasa Air has catered to the travel needs of an impressive 4 million passengers, operating over 900 weekly flights and connecting 16 cities across India with 35 distinct routes. As the airline continues to soar to new heights, they are expected to announce a substantial three-digit aircraft order by the end of 2023, setting the stage for further growth and innovation in the aviation sector.

Akasa Air's pioneering spirit, environmental consciousness, and commitment to passenger satisfaction have positioned them as a trailblazer in Asian aviation, propelling them towards an even brighter future on the wings of the Boeing 737 MAX 8-200.
