Akasa Air to launch operations from June: CEO

Akasa Air, which is financed by Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, will begin commercial operations in June, according to its CEO Vinay Dube. Dube said the airline expects to have a fleet of 72 aircraft in the next five years during an interactive session on the sidelines of Wings India 2022 on Friday.

"In the month of June, we hope to launch our maiden commercial flight. To get our licencing done, we're working closely with the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the DGCA (Director General of Civil Aviation) "'Replaying to inquiry,' he remarked.

He also stated that the airline intends to have 18 aircraft on the ground as part of its fleet within 12 months of its inception, with an additional 12 to 14 aircraft added every year after that, bringing the total number of aircraft in the fleet to 72 in five years. "We are quite excited," he continued, "and we serve a large number of people with warmth, affection, and generosity." 

Akasa Air would first offer services from metros to Tier II and III cities. The CEO previously stated that there will be flights from metros to metros so that the aircraft can be transferred across the system.
