Haridwar: Akhil Bharti Akhara Parishad, the apex organization of saints, has come out in support of Swami Chinmayanand, a former Union minister and BJP leader sent to Jail for an accusation of rape and sexual harassment of a law student. The council has asked for strict action against the student who accused Chinmayananda. With this, Chinmayand has been sought to be released. Significantly, SIT is investigating this matter.

A meeting of the Akhil Bhartiya Akhara Council was held in Kankhal in Haridwar district. In the meeting, the current President of Akhil Bhartiya Akhara Parishad, Mr. Mahant Narendra Giri and General Secretary Mr. Mahant Hari Giri Maharaj and their entire team have been elected once again for five years. During this time, several important decisions have been taken in the meeting. One of those decisions was on former Union Minister Swami Chinmayananda. The council gave a clean chit to Chinmayananda during the meeting. The saints believed that Swami Chinmayananda had been implicated under the conspiracy.

Mahant of Akhil Bhartiya Akhara Parishad said that under the guise of Chinmayananda episode, a big conspiracy is being done to defame the saints and tarnish their image. In relation to the girl accused of sexually assaulting Swami Chinmayananda, he said that the role of the victim girl, in this case, is also questionable and it seems that there is a conspiracy to implicate Swami Chinmayanand by feeding him drug.
