LUCKNOW: Praising the revocation of Rahul Gandhi's Lok Sabha membership suspension, Akhilesh Yadav, the chief of the Samajwadi Party, expressed his hope for the restoration of Uttar Pradesh Assembly membership for party leader Mohammad Azam Khan and his son Abdulla Azam.

On Monday, Rahul Gandhi's Lok Sabha membership was reinstated after the Supreme Court stayed his conviction in a defamation case. The Lok Sabha Secretariat officially announced the revocation of his disqualification and the restoration of his membership.

Akhilesh Yadav extended his gratitude to the Supreme Court for its decision, stating that it has strengthened his faith in the judiciary and democracy. He criticized the BJP's approach, claiming that the party tends to target Opposition leaders and strip them of their membership.

Expressing optimism, he added that he hoped the membership of others, including Azam Khan and his son, would also be restored. Akhilesh Yadav mentioned another incident involving BJP MP Ramshankar Katheria, who received a two-year prison sentence from an MP-MLA court the previous week, implying that the BJP should also face similar consequences.

In a tweet, the SP president accused the BJP of conspiring against Opposition MPs and MLAs while now facing the same situation themselves. He questioned the BJP's efficiency in suspending its own MP's membership and restoring others. Akhilesh Yadav further criticized the BJP government for failing to address the issues faced by the people of the State, including electricity shortages and inadequate support for farmers.
