For the last few days, Akshay Kumar’s citizenship has been a subject of controversy. It turns out that Akshay has a Canadian passport instead of having an Indian one that most people would have assumed. However, Khiladi Kumat  took to Twitter yesterday to admit that while he does have a Canadian passport, his love however has always been for India, his motherland.  Now, an old video of the actor, during a performance in Toronto emerged on the web, in which, his love for the city of Toronto in Canada is rather apparent.

Yeasterday, Akshay took to Twitter and wrote, “I really don’t understand the unwarranted interest and negativity about my citizenship. I have never hidden or denied that I hold a Canadian passport. It is also equally true that I have not visited Canada in the last seven years. I work in India, and pay all my taxes in India. While all these years, I have never needed to prove my love for India to anyone, I find it disappointing that my citizenship issue is constantly dragged into needless controversy, a matter that is personal, legal, non-political, and of no consequence to others. Lastly, I would like to continue contributing in my small way to the causes that I believe in and make India stronger and stronger.’

on the work front, Akshay Kumar is prepping for the release of his upcoming films such as Good News with Kareena Kapoor Khan, which will hit theatres in December. Prior to that, he has two other releases in Mission Mangal and Housefull 4.
