Former England cricket captain Alastair Cook said on Saturday that the cancellation of the county championship was done due to the threat from Corona Virus. Cook said that if the full season of the English County Championship could not be played due to the deadly coronavirus, then the cricket chiefs should cancel it. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has postponed all domestic tournaments till 28 May due to this epidemic.

Let us tell you that the County Championship was to begin from April 12 and the Chief Executive Officer of the ECB said that the financially most important competitions of the game will be given priority. With this, the T20 Blast and 'The Hundred' are likely to remain in the program for the opening season.

Cook, who won the Division One title with Essex in the previous season, believes that the brief session will reduce its importance. He said that if we have to play any kind of cricket, then I hope that it should not be expected to hold a six-match county championship because there is no point in doing so.
