Amsterdam: An international tribunal established to handle Kosovo-related cases announced on Monday that Dritan GoxHajj had been detained in Albania under the authority of a warrant the tribunal had issued for him to be accused of obstructing the administration of justice.

According to a press release from the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in the Netherlands, GoxHajj, a former fighter for the Kosovo Liberation Army, was sought for "offences against the administration of justice involving intimidation and obstructing official persons in performing official duties."

Unable to be reached for comment right away was a lawyer for GoxHajj.

According to Radio Free Europe, GoxHajj was suspected of disclosing the names of witnesses who were supposed to remain anonymous in several criminal cases involving the Kosovo War. According to the report, he will be held in Albania while authorities decide whether to send him to The Hague or not.

The court, which is staffed by foreign judges and attorneys, was established in 2015 to handle cases brought under Kosovo law against former guerrillas of the Kosovo Liberation Army in their conflict with Serbia.

Hashim Thaci, a former president of Kosovo who went on trial in April and is accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity stemming from his time as one of the organisers of the guerrilla uprising against Serbian rule in 1998–1998, is the main suspect in the case.

More than 100 nations, mostly Western ones, recognised Kosovo's 2008 declaration of independence from Serbia, but not Serbia, Russia, or China.
