Azhar Ali, Pakistani player dropped his captaincy from one-day series just after they lost 1-4 in the five-match ODI series in and against Australia, now says he wants to rejuvenate and concentrate only on his batting style.

On Thursday, the ex-captain proferred his resignation to Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Shahryar Khan. In the rear of this, Sarfraz Ahmed, the Twenty20 International skipper, will acquire captaincy of the ODI side.

“I want to focus more on batting. That’s why I also left the Test vice-captaincy as this is the right time to further improve my batting.” ex-captain told.
Out of the five ODI in Australia, he contrived only 37 runs in the three matches he played and the remaining were missed being injured.

“I am honored to have led Pakistan. I tried my best but results did not come,” Ali said. Before he was declared as captain after Misbah-ul-Haq resigned, he was not even a part of the one-day team for 15 months. He laid the course in 31 matches, out of which the team won 12 matches with one no result.

Moving on with his career was the only option left for him as he said "It was like swimming against the tide which was not correct. I think this is not the right team to seek the captaincy or vice-captaincy."

For the next time, Pakistan is going to counterpart West Indies in a three-match one-day series.
