Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and his daughter Alia Bhatt and wife Soni Razdan have received death threat calls demanding INR 50 lakh or else he would kill Alia and Soni.

In the caller's exact words, "If you fail to do so, I will fire several rounds of bullets in your daughter Alia and wife Soni."

As soon as the police were informed about it, registered an FIR and recorded a statement from the Bhatt family. The case is now handled by Mumbai Police's Anti-Extortion Cell. As per the developments, the accused has been caught up by the UP police. Mahesh thanked the police, "A bolt from the blue in the form of an extortion call & threat to my family was nipped in the bud by the MH & UP police in tandem. Gratitude!" A police officer has said, "A case is registered under section 387."
