With her last release Gully Boy and upcoming films Kalank, Brahmastra, Takht, RRR and Sadak 2, Alia Bhatt is on the top of her game. She's established herself not just as a bankable star but also as a talent to reckon with. While her film front is full of projects, the actor has now opened up about suffering from anxiety. In an interaction with Filmfare, Alia shared that while she hasn't been depressed, she's been having bouts of anxiety since the past few months. She has been quoted as saying, “I haven’t been depressed but I’ve had bouts of anxiety. It comes and goes. It’s been happening quite a bit since the past five to six months. It’s not like an anxiety attack but I just feel low.”

However,  Alia said she's aware of her sister Shaheen Bhatt's tryst with depression adding that it has helped her gain more awareness about mental health. Sharing that she allows herself to feel the emotions, no matter how the feelings are, she told the publication, “Thankfully, I’m aware of it because of my sister. She’s fought depression. I’ve read her book. No matter how bad it is, I just let myself feel it.”

Alia further shared that sometimes, she feels crying like for no reason. She told the publication “Then it passes. Initially, I’d be a little confused. I’d constantly give reasons that it’s because of work or maybe I’m tired or haven’t been able to meet anyone... The kind of personality I have, I become a little on the edge,”.  Alia said that she's spoken to her friends about it including Ayan Mukerji, the director of her upcoming film Brahmastra. I spoke to friends about it. I spoke to Ayan about it, I spoke to my sister’s friend Rohan (Joshi). Everyone told me that you’ve got to realise that it will go away. What’s important is to accept it and not say that you’re fine. If you’re not feeling fine, then you should just say you’re not feeling fine,” she was quoted as saying.

Several celebrities including Deepika Padukone, Shah Rukh Khan, Ileana D'Cruz and Anushka Sharma have opened up about their mental health problems in the recent past, setting an example as to how important it is to address and talk about the problems.
