The very beautiful and talented actress Alia Bhatt is to be seen in Karan Johar’s Multistarrer upcoming movie Klank. The period film is  directed by Abhishek Varman and produced by Karan Johar, Sajid Nadiadwala and Fox Star Studios. It stars Madhuri Dixit, Sonakshi Sinha, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sanjay Dutt. Alia is currently busy promoting her upcoming movie Kalank, has revealed that she turned to classics like Umrao Jaan and Mughal-E-Azam, in order to prepare for her role as Roop in the pre-partition period drama.

The Raazi actress further revealed, at an interview, that her director Abhishek Varman recommended her to watch the Pakistani drama Zindagi Gulzar Hai to draw inspiration for her look and diction. She told PTI, "I watched a lot of old films like Mughal-E-Azam and Umrao Jaan to get an understanding of grace and body language. (And) I had to clean my Hindi as I am speaking Urdu (in the film). Abhishek asked me to watch Zindagi Gulzar Hai. The character of the girl in the show is very much how Roop will deal with the situation.”

The actress further added,  "She has responsibility on her shoulders so she is not always a happy person. She is vulnerable yet strong. It is difficult (to bring so many) layers - unhappy, vulnerable and strong to a character. Abhishek kept saying that I should not be irritating.”
