VISAKHAPATNAM: Due to the strong cyclonic storm 'Asani' in the Bay of Bengal, all flights into and out of this coastal city in Andhra Pradesh were cancelled on Tuesday.

Authorities have suspended flight services to and from Visakhapatnam (Vizag) Airport as a precautionary measure as the cyclonic storm approaches the coast of Andhra Pradesh and is expected to bring heavy rainfall and strong gusts.
IndiGo has declared that all of its flights into and out of Visakhapatnam will be cancelled. Flights between Delhi and Visakhapatnam have been cancelled by AirAsia.  Mumbai-Raipur-Visakhapatnam and Delhi-Visakhapatnam flights have also been cancelled by Air India.

The impact of a severe cyclonic storm on the weather in Visakhapatnam hampered aviation operations on Monday. Due to poor weather, flights from Kurnool, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad were unable to land at Visakhapatnam Airport and were forced to return. Flights from Hyderabad, Mumbai, Chennai, and Vijayawada were also cancelled by several carriers.

As 'Asani' approaches the Andhra Pradesh coast, the coastal region is witnessing strong winds and rain.
