New Delhi: The cyclonic storm Asani over the Bay of Bengal is moving towards coastal Andhra Pradesh and Odisha at a speed of 12 kmph. According to the information given by the Meteorological Department, due to the effect of Cyclone Asani, strong winds and heavy rains are expected at a speed of 120 km per hour. The Odisha government is on alert in view of the storm warning from the Meteorological Department (IMD).
According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, Cyclone Asani is likely to move northwestwards by the night of 10 May and reach West Central and adjoining North-West Bay of Bengal off the coasts of North Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. In a bulletin issued by the Meteorological Department, it has been told that the cyclone may turn north-northeastwards and move towards the northwest of the Bay of Bengal near the Odisha coast. At the same time, it is expected to weaken gradually during the next 24 hours.
At the same time, in view of the storm, Remote Warning Signal-2 has been issued at all the ports of Odisha. Under this, ships have been asked not to come near the coast. At the same time, fishermen have been instructed not to venture into the sea in the west-central and adjoining south Bay of Bengal for the next few days. Odisha government has identified 15 such blocks in 4 districts, where normal life can be affected due to rain. People are being transported from these places to safer places.
