USA: Google has added the first Pixel-only Magic Eraser feature to the most recent version of Photos for iOS and Android devices. But it costs money to get it.
The tech giant claims that users will need to purchase a Google One subscription first. Subscribers will have free access to the Magic Eraser, HDR video effects, new collage designs, and more.
On phones other than the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 series, Google Photos is getting some much-needed improvements. The Magic Eraser makes it easy to remove objects, and the HDR video effect allows users to give their videos a more dramatic effect.

All Google One subscription users will be able to access these features. However, owners of the Pixel 5a or newer models can use them for free.

You can buy additional storage space through Google One to use on Gmail, Photos, and Drive. With Google One, you also get additional benefits like the ability to share your membership with up to five members of your household. The monthly and annual subscription price for Google One in India is Rs. 130 and Rs. 1,300 respectively.
Google's Magic Eraser tool made its debut in the Pixel 6 series. This made it possible to quickly remove unwanted people or objects from a particular image.
Later, the Pixel 7 series got the feature. It was planned to be a Pixel-only function, available only on the company's own tensor-powered smartphones. But the tool is now available for devices made by Apple, Samsung, and other manufacturers.

On Pixel 7 and 6 series devices, Google's Magic Eraser uses AI computing and machine learning algorithms. The device enables removal of persons and objects through tapping, circling and brushing.
Magic Eraser features will now be available through Google's cloud-based servers on devices with Bionic chips from Qualcomm, MediaTek or Apple.
HDR effects for videos are also available for Google One subscribers using Android and iOS devices. However, unlike the HDR effect for images in Google Photos, the feature will not increase contrast and brightness in videos.
Instead, it will give clips a more dramatic feel. The feature, which is equivalent to Magic Eraser, will be available for free on Pixel 5a and later models.
Additionally, Google has added a variety of styles to the collage editor in the Photos app. Both Google One subscribers and Pixel owners can make use of the new add-on.
They feature limited-edition designs by well-known designers such as Yao Cheng Designs and DABSMYLA. People can now add styles to a specific photo inside a collage.
