Earlier this year one of the most classical veteran 94-years old actor was admitted in a Mumbai hospital after suffering from dehydration and kidney ailments in couple of month before. He was hospitalized for nearly eight days and he was even put on ventilators support when his condition got worsened. Thankfully Dilip Kumar fought back and made a speedy recovery. He was discharged a week later.
Dilip Kumar was well-known on Bollywood for his classical roles in movies like Ram Aur Shyam, Devdas, Andaz, Madhumati, Aan, Mughal-e-Azam, Ganga Jamuna, Kranti, Karma and Saudagar. His last Bollywood movie, Qila with Rekha came back in 1998 and was a disaster. He was also the recipient of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India's highest award in cinema, in 1994 and the Padma Vibhushan, the country's second-highest civilian award, in 2015. Not many know but Dilip Kumar was also offered a role in the Hollywood classic Lawrence of Arabia, which later went to the legendary Omar Sharif.
Once upon a time when Subhash Ghai, who directed this classical actor in the Bollywood Dilip Kumar in movies like Saudagar and Karma, had once revealed that he had planned to make a movie with the legend, along with Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan said, "In 2003, I wanted to start a war film called Mother Land, where I had cast Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. The script was ready and three songs were also recorded, but at the last minute Shah Rukh backed out.
