New Delhi: In many countries including China, Japan, and America, the deadly coronavirus has started wreaking havoc again. The BA.2 and XBB variants of Omicron are the reason for most of the affected people in these countries. Now it has come to light that all the variants and sub-variants of Omicron including these variants have also dissolved in the air of India. However, there is nothing to fear, because so far the country has neither seen a rise in corona cases nor has there been any increase in the number of deaths due to these variants. That is, its impact in India has been very mild so far.
According to the surveillance report of the government, sequencing of 324 positive samples during the survey revealed the presence of all Omicron variants in India. The Ministry of Health has informed that in the areas where these variants of these omicrons have been detected, there has been no increase in the death rate or corona cases. Let us tell you that in view of the increasing corona in China, the Ministry of Health had started corona testing of international passengers arriving at all the airports of the country from December 24 last year.
The ministry said that more than 13.6 lakh international passengers reached India in 7,786 flights at all airports, out of which an RT-PCR test of 29,113 passengers was done. Of these, 183 samples were found positive, which were later sent for genome sequencing of all samples. Sequencing of 50 of these samples revealed omicron and omicron sub-lineages, including the XBB (11), BQ.1.1 (12), and BF7.4.1 (1) variants.
