Lucknow: The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh. The court imposed the fine for not filing a counter affidavit in a case pending for seven years. The matter was heard by a bench of Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal and Justice Brij Raj Singh. The court, while hearing the PIL filed by petitioner Guru Prasad, imposed a fine on the Yogi government.
According to the report, the next hearing, in this case, will now be on February 21. At the same time, if the reply is not filed by the next hearing, the Principal Secretary will have to appear in the Revenue Court. This petition has been pending since 2015 during the Akhilesh government, after which Yogi Adityanath became CM in 2017, but the state government has not yet filed any counter affidavit in this matter. In such a situation, the court has now imposed a fine. The court also allowed the state government to recover the compensation amount from the officer responsible for not filing a reply. Along with this, it has been clarified by the court that the amount of the fine should be deposited in the mediation center of the High Court.
Earlier, the Lucknow bench of the High Court had taken a major decision in the interest of sugarcane farmers and imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on the UP government. The matter was about payment to sugarcane farmers. In this case, a petition was filed in the High Court by the Rashtriya Kisan Mazdoor Sangathan. While hearing the petition, the court passed the order.
