Prayagraj: The Allahabad High Court has given a big decision regarding the name change. The court clearly said that changing the name is the fundamental right of every person in the country. The court said that name change is part of freedom of expression. No person can be stopped by changing his name. Keeping or changing the name is part of the freedom of expression given in Article 19 (1) (a) of the Constitution.

The single bench of Justice Pankaj Bhatia has asked the CBSE Board to issue a new certificate in the name of the petitioner Kabir Jaiswal, along with the verdict on the petition. The petitioner has changed his name from Rishu Jaiswal to Kabir. Petitioner passed the high school examination in 2013 and the high school examination in 2015 from the CBSE board. He passed the examination in the name of Rishu Jaiswal son Santosh Kumar Jaiswal. However, Rishu later issued a gazette notification to change his name to Kabir Jaiswal.

For this, he also gave an application to the CBSE Board. Based on the gazette notification, his name has been changed in the PAN card and Aadhaar card, but the CBSE board refused to change the name in his educational certificates. After this, the High Court directed the Board to issue a new certificate in the name of Kabir Jaiswal.
