Last year Alok Nath, who was barred by Cine & TV Artists Association (CINTAA), after the rape accusation by TV producer Vinta Nanda and subsequent FIR, has now been imposed with a six-month ban by Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) for non-cooperation, according to a report in Pune Mirror. The report states that the Indian Film & Television Directors’ Association (IFTDA) announced on Friday that its mother body FWICE issued a six-month non-cooperative directive to the actor.
However, IFTDA president Ashoke Pandit revealed that the sexual harassment complaint has been shared with the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) committee and the investigation is going on accordingly. He said, "Alok Nath was summoned thrice by the ICC (Internal Complaints Committee) but he didn’t turn up for any of the meetings. Since he deliberately refused to co-operate with IFTDA’s mandate of providing a secure workplace for women, we reached out to FWICE for a six-month ban which was approved on Thursday. Alok Nath has been duly informed".
Alok Nath is not the first one to be banned by IFTDA, last year, Sajid Kapoor, who had been accused by multiple women of sexual harassment had been suspended for one year after POSH Investigation Closure Report of December 7, 2018. The suspension was done after the recommendation by the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC). However, Alok Nath has refused to comment on the matter, all he said was, "The law will take its course".
