Guwahati: Police have arrested a smuggler with the meat of three live turtles and one turtle in Jorhat district of Assam. It is being told that the Jorhat police had received intelligence about the smuggler. After which the police raided a house in Soladhara Jnanpith area and recovered a turtle mass along with three live turtles from the spot.

Along with this, the police arrested Jatin Hazarika, the owner of the house. The meat of live tortoises and turtles has been handed over to the forest department. Police say that these turtles were to be smuggled. The arrested accused are being interrogated continuously. Jorhat's city deputy director Deepjyoti Sonowal has told that Jatin Hazarika was suspected by the police for a long time. He was caught red handed as soon as he got the intelligence.

The police raided Jatin's house and seized a huge quantity of cannabis and other narcotics, apart from three turtles and a tortoise's mass from the spot. Regarding this matter, Jorhat District Forest Officer Iqbal Ahmed has told that the Jorhat police recovered the meat of a turtle along with three live turtles from the house of Jatin Hazarika, a resident of Soladhara in the district.
