The Indian public domain photography platform Pixahive is slowly becoming a big hit in the photographers’ community due to its ease of use. It provides a bundle of opportunities to amateur photographers for earning and learning. They earn a certain amount of money for uploading their pictures on the platform while receiving valuable feedback from a team of professionals who monitor the quality of their images.
Founded by Rohit Tripathi on August 10, 2020, Pixahive is an Indian startup that aims to bring the community of photographers closer by providing them monetary and valuable benefits. The pictures on Pixahive are available free of cost for downloading and reusing for creating websites, blogs, articles, brochures, pamphlets, invitations, and applications.“People can download any type of images without having to worry about its price. Even the premium-grade professional images are free like the basic pictures at Pixahive. We aim to create an open community which values the growth of its creators and opens doors to unlimited images for people who need it,” said Rohit.
Indian photography platforms have not extended their scope to match the level of service that Pixahive provides. Rohit explains the concept of the platform by saying, “We created this platform to host images which can be used by anyone working in any industry. Pixahive is one of the very few Indian websites to provide such readily accessible service for photographers and downloaders.”The Indian photography industry has very few channels that appreciate the contributions of amateur photographers and provide valuable feedback for their growth. Either they are stuck working as unpaid interns or their services are charged at very low prices by crediting their lack of experience in the industry.
Pixahive works as a comprehensive solution for amateur photographers who are looking for earning and learning through the use of their skills. Rohit says that the platform incentivises frequent contributors by paying them an amount that matches the quality of their image and its professionalism. The incentives paid to the contributors is divided into various stages. Depending on the amount received by the contributor, they can understand the places where their image lacks value and work over it to become a better photographer with each image. This feedback mechanism provides a better insight to the contributors of their work and the monetary benefits motivate them to work harder in their field.
The community of registered photographers at Pixahive work closely to provide opportunities and insights to the amateur photographers who are learning about the industry. Through the experience and knowledge of others in the community, every photographer gets a chance to learn the art and create high-quality images in the future. The increasing popularity of Pixahive among amateur photographers is reflected by its numbers. Within a fortnight of its launch, the platform flooded with more than 200 registered contributors who shared hundreds of their images on the platform. The number of people who browse the website in search of images is way more than the registered users on the platform. With the expansion of its user base in the future, Pixahive aims to provide many more opportunities for budding photographers in India.
