New Delhi: Amazon has introduced the Echo Dot (5th Gen) smart speaker in India. From March 2 to March 4, Amazon will be selling the device at a starting price of Rs. 4,999.

It has a built-in temperature sensor, LED display, motion detection using ultrasound, and tap gesture controls. Additionally, it features lifelike sound and an enhanced audio experience.

The front-firing speaker on the Echo Dot (5th Gen) measures 1.73 inches, compared to the previous model's 1.6 inches, which is slightly smaller. The device retains the fabric finish of the previous model apart from its circular shape and the circular LED ring at the bottom.

Compared to previous generations, it provides "up to double the clear vocals and bass," the company claims.

"Ultrasound motion detection" is an important component of the Echo Dot (5th Gen) speaker. The device can detect movement around it with the help of an integrated accelerometer.

This option allows you to program automations, such as lighting your bedroom when you walk in. Tapping on the speaker can also activate an alarm, play music, and other features.

The audio quality of Amazon's new smart speaker is better than its predecessor. Bluetooth Low Energy and dual-band Wi-Fi are both supported by it.

The new Echo Dot can be connected to a Fire TV, another Echo speaker, or used independently as a speaker. To turn off the microphone, press the microphone off button on the top of the speaker.

The Echo Dot (5th generation) can display additional information such as song titles in addition to supporting a digital clock and weather updates. Additionally, there is an integrated temperature sensor that can measure the ambient temperature and perform preset actions accordingly.

There are three color options for the Amazon Echo Dot (5th Gen): Black, Blue, and White. Normally priced at Rs. 5,499, the new smart speaker will be on sale for Rs. 4,999 from March 4 as part of the launch promotion. Major online and offline retailers like Croma and Reliance Digital as well as Amazon carry it.
