Amazon India is currently working on a generative AI tool called SahAI, which stands for "help" or "assist." This AI tool is designed to assist small businesses that are part of Amazon's platform, particularly in the backend management of their products. Although still in the trial stage, SahAI aims to overcome obstacles and facilitate the entry of new businesses into the marketplace. The announcement was made during the Sambhav summit held in New Delhi.
SahAI will specifically provide support to small businesses by generating content, images, product details, summaries, and other elements necessary for showcasing a product effectively. The tool is intended to streamline the process of creating product listings, making it more accessible for smaller businesses to list and manage their products on Amazon's platform.
Additionally, Amazon showcased another innovation known as Amazon Johri at the summit. Amazon Johri is a solution designed to enhance the sorting and disposal of fruits and vegetables. This technology aims to improve the handling of fresh produce, which is a crucial aspect of Amazon's operations.
Amazon has also made significant efforts to collaborate with various entities in India to expand its reach and support for local businesses. One notable partnership is with India Post, where Amazon has signed a memorandum to connect with artisans, makers, and businesses in remote parts of the country. This initiative involves the establishment of Niryat Kendras (export centers), which assist businesses with customs clearances and other export-related processes.
Furthermore, Amazon has extended its partnership with Indian Railways, dating back to 2019. As part of this partnership, Amazon intends to operate special parcel trains on dedicated freight corridors within the Indian Railways network. This move is aimed at enhancing Amazon's logistics capabilities and improving the efficiency of product transportation.
Having completed a decade of operations in India, Amazon has significantly grown its presence in the country. The platform began with just 100 sellers and now boasts over 1.2 million sellers. Approximately 62% of businesses on Amazon's platform have embraced digital practices. Over the years, Amazon's operations in India have contributed to a cumulative export value of $8 billion and the creation of around 1.3 million direct and indirect jobs.
Looking ahead, Amazon Web Services (AWS) is set to make a substantial investment of $12.7 billion by 2030, contributing to job creation in the technology sector. Additionally, Amazon India has committed to an additional investment of $15 billion by 2030, underlining its dedication to the Indian market's growth and development.
