Dehradun: Former MLA and senior Congress leader Ambareesh Kumar, popularly known as Bhaiji, passed away in Haridwar, Uttarakhand on Tuesday night. The death has come as a big shock to their loved ones. On behalf of the Uttarakhand CM, Kichcha MLA Rajesh Shukla and Congress state president Pritam Singh reached Haridwar and expressed their condolences. Haridwar MP Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, including BJP state unit president Madan Kaushik, also expressed his condolences and termed it as a deep blow to the state.

Ambareesh Kumar has a long history of political life. Ambareesh Kumar, who died for his colleagues, has also won the Best MLA award in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly. Ambareesh Kumar had also contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections as a Congress candidate from the Haridwar Lok Sabha seat. The former MLA had been ill for a long time and had been hospitalized for approximately two months. He breathed his last late at night. His last rites were performed today at Kankhal crematorium where his daughter Priyamvata Goel offered him a mask. Meanwhile, leaders of other parties including Congress have also condoled his demise.

Tell you that Congress leader Ambareesh Kumar was active in politics for 50 years. Ambareesh Kumar, over 70 years of age, has contested 8 times. If Congress had not cut his ticket four times, the figure would have been even higher. But, in 8 times, he has won election only once.
