Washington: A report from the US agency before US President Donald Trump's visit to India may increase the difficulties of the Indian government. The American Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) has released a report on Bharata. It has shown an increase in cases of religious persecution in India. Concerns have also been raised about the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). In this report, India is placed in the Tier-2 category, which is a 'country of special concern' category.

The USCIRF report claimed that since 2018, religious harassment cases have increased in India. In some states, the deteriorating circumstances of religious freedom have been told, but governments are not trying to stop them. The report said that PM Narendra Modi did not make any statements to reduce the disturbance and his party members were related to organizations of Hindu extremism. These same leaders used provocative language.

Through the report, the US Government has put forward some recommendations before the Government of India, including convincing those who make inflammatory speeches. Police should be strengthened so that action can be taken and the security of places of worship can be increased. Concerns have been raised over the Citizenship Amendment Act apart from mentioning several incidents and it has been said that there is an atmosphere of fear in a large section.
