Amid the criticism, Pathaan gets U/A certificate after these 10 cuts

Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone‘s first song of the film Pathaan created Ruckus. The song was released by the makers. Besharam is a dance number romancing each other in exotic locales in Europe. However, they are facing huge criticism because of the color of Deepika’s Dress.

Amid the criticism, Shah Rukh Khan’s  Pathaan has received a U/A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). As per the information a total of 10 changes made in the film. At least three changes have made to the controversial song Besharam Rang - close-up shots of “buttocks, side-pose and sensuous dance movements during the lyrics Bahut Tang Kiya” have been removed. 

The film received a U/A certificate after being ordered as many as 10 cuts, including several changes in the controversial Besharam Rang song. The runtime of Pathaan is 146 minutes (2 hours and 26 minutes). The changes ordered by the CBFC include certain words being replaced. The word ‘RAW’ will be changed ‘Humare’, ‘Langde Lulle’ will be swapped with ‘Toote Foote’, and ‘PMO will be replaced with ‘President/Minister’ in 13 places. Other edited words include ‘Mrs Bharatmata’, ‘Ashok Chakra’, ‘Scotch’, and, ‘KFB’. A reference to Russia has also been removed.

Earlier CBFC chairperson, Prasoon Joshi said, "Pathaan went through the due and through examining process as per the CBFC guidelines. The committee has guided the makers to implement the advised changes in the film including the songs and submit the revised version prior to theatrical release. CBFC is always committed to find the right balance between creative expression and sensibility of the audience and believe that we can always find solution through meaningful dialogue between all stakeholders."

Speaking of the Pathaan, it marks Shah Rukh Khan’s return to the big screen in over four years. The action thriller also stars John Abraham and is directed by Siddharth Aanand. The film is scheduled to be released in theatres on January 25, 2023. It will be released in Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions apart from Hindi.
