Finance Minister Amit Mitra of West Bengal, the state of India, has called for a three-day session of finance ministers of all the states to give their suggestions for reorganizing the Goods and Services Tax (GST) framework.
According to the media report, a statement issued by the Trinamool Congress said that Mitra has also called for the dismantling of the existing structure of GST and he said that its design is faulty and today it is a reason for the economic slowdown in the country is. The committee of strong finance ministers, who is also the chairman of Mitra, in an interview has given four reasons why GST failed after implementation for three years. According to him, the entire structure of GST is faulty, there is no system of data testing etc.
According to the information available on the Trinamool website regarding this matter, its rules and laws are faulty and the rules have been changed repeatedly. Every region has suffered from GST, be it IT, textiles etc. In addition there were frequent changes in the rate structure per item. Apart from this, there was a complete lack of coordination between the Center and the states.
