Amit Shah to leave for Meghalaya on a two-day visit today, with CMs of 8 states

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is leaving for Meghalaya on a two-day visit on Saturday. According to media reports, Amit Shah will lead a meeting with north-eastern chief ministers, chief secretaries, and state police chiefs in Meghalaya. In which other issues as well as the issue of inter-state border disputes are also likely to arise. Amit Shah is said to be accompanied by Union Minister for Science and Technology and Space Jitendra Singh and North Eastern Region Development Minister G Kishan Reddy.

In fact, Amit Shah's visit was scheduled to take place on the 17th of this month, but it was postponed due to corona. Earlier, Meghalaya CM K Onrad K Sangma had expressed his desire to the Centre to resolve inter-state issues between the states before the 75th Independence Day on August 15. Sangma had said, 'For 50 years, we have not been able to resolve complex border issues. Currently, there is political understanding in the north-eastern regions. We can discuss this matter at the highest level.'

Sangma further said that during his two-day visit to Meghalaya, Shah will also hold a meeting at the North East Space Application Centre (NESAC) Headquarters. CM Sangma said the Union Home Minister will also inaugurate some projects in the state.
