BANGALORE: On Wednesday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi are set to address the challenges their concerned parties are facing in Karnataka, as the state Assembly elections draw closer.

While the ruling BJP is facing criticism from members of its own party and Hindu campaigners, the opposition Congress is experiencing internal conflict. The party's top leadership is attempting to appease and develop plans after realising how serious the difficulties are and how they could prove disastrous for the respective political parties in the upcoming state elections, which are set to take place in less than eight months.

To address the internal conflict between rival factions of Siddaramaiah and state unit president D.K. Shivakumar, Rahul Gandhi flew in on Tuesday night and called a meeting. Rahul Gandhi has explicitly requested that the leaders run for office under a joint leadership, said the  party sources.

Rahul Gandhi has explicitly told Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar not to engage in rivalry that will help the BJP. In Chitradurga, Rahul Gandhi will also speak with Lingayat seer Shivamurthy Murugha Sharanaru, souce said.
Later, Rahul Gandhi will address a crowd at a function to celebrate Siddaramaiah's 75th birth anniversary. The party is looking forward to getting stregnth with the massive convention in the state.

Amit Shah will reach Bangalore Wednesday late night. Though his itinerary does not include any political meetings, sources said that he will take up the ground report and question the state leadership on the wrath of party workers and Hindu activists against the BJP.
