New Delhi: Over the ongoing protests by the Congress, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday (August 5, 2022) said the Congress was doing "appeasement politics". Amit Shah said the Congress chose the day on which Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the Ram temple in Ayodhya two years ago for a demonstration in the name of price rise.

Shah further said 'Congress chose this day to protest in black clothes because through this they (Congress) want to send the message that we oppose the laying of the foundation stone of Ram Janmabhoomi and our politics of appeasement. Want to take it forward.' The Home Minister further said that on this day in the year 2020, PM Modi had laid the foundation stone of Ram Janmabhoomi temple and by doing so he had found a peaceful solution to the 550-year-old problem. Shah said that Congress is actually expressing its opposition to the construction of the temple.

Attacking Congress, Shah said that the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) action and the issue of price rise is an excuse, in fact, Congress has to do politics of appeasement. Shah said that Congress could not have openly opposed the Ram temple, so it is trying to send a secret message in the name of price rise and ED. He said Congress has been at the centre of power for most of the time since independence, but it has never tried to resolve this old dispute. He said Prime Minister Modi resolved it peacefully. Let me tell you that on Friday, Congress protested over many issues. During this time, all the leaders were wearing black clothes. Several leaders and MPs including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were present in the protest.
