CHAMOLI: In a tragic incident, more than a dozen lives were lost due to electrocution in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district. The Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, expressed his sorrow on Twitter, terming the incident as "very sad." He reached out to the Chief Minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami, to gather detailed information about the unfortunate event. Amit Shah acknowledged the efforts of the administration in providing treatment to the injured individuals and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the grieving families, while also wishing a swift recovery to those who were hurt.

Reports state that the unfortunate incident occurred when approximately 15 people, including a police sub-inspector and three home guards, came in contact with an electrified railing on a bridge above the Alaknanda River. The authorities are currently investigating the incident, with initial findings suggesting the presence of an electric current on the railing. Further details will be revealed as the investigation progresses.

Initially, it was believed that a transformer explosion was responsible for the fatalities near the banks of the Alaknanda River in Chamoli district. The injured individuals have been admitted to the district hospital for medical treatment, as confirmed by a police officer.
