CHAMOLI: A devastating incident unfolded on the banks of the Alakananda River in Uttarakhand's Chamoli, as a transformer exploded, resulting in the loss of several lives. The Namami Gange project site became the site of a fatal accident, leaving at least 10 people dead due to an electric shock. The severity of the situation has led to concerns about potential casualties, as it is feared that numerous individuals might be trapped. Swift action has been taken by the police and rescue teams, who have promptly arrived at the location to commence relief operations.

Adverse Weather Amplifies Flood Crisis in Uttarakhand: The aftermath of heavy rainfall has exacerbated the flood situation across multiple districts in Uttarakhand, including Chamoli, Haridwar, and Rudraprayag. Tragically, on Wednesday, a transformer explosion on the banks of the Alakananda River claimed the lives of approximately ten individuals in Chamoli. Parmendra Doval, the Superintendent of Police in Chamoli, shared the distressing details of the incident, stating, "In Chamoli district, ten people lost their lives as a result of a transformer explosion on the banks of the Alakananda River. Furthermore, numerous individuals sustained injuries in this unfortunate incident."

Efforts Underway to Provide Medical Care to the Injured: As confirmed by the Superintendent of Police, "All the individuals injured in this accident have been admitted to the hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment." Additionally, in a sorrowful turn of events, the accident claimed the life of the outpost in-charge stationed on the Badrinath Highway, as reported by Ashok Kumar, the Director General of Police in Uttarakhand. Following the tragic loss, the body has been sent for postmortem examination. Sources suggest that the incident occurred during the construction of a project under the Namami Gange initiative in Chamoli.
