PATNA: On Thursday, JD(U) president Lalan Singh's hometown of Lakhisarai in Munger Lok Sabha seat of Bihar will host a massive gathering where Union Home Minister Amit Shah will speak.

Six Assembly districts are included in the Munger Lok Sabha constituency, where Lalan Singh is the current Member of Parliament. The BJP has a particular focus on Munger since Lalan Singh is quite critical of both Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The BJP has been unable to win this seat in the previous eight Lok Sabha elections. The seat has been allocated to alliance partners during the previous two to three terms. Lalan Singh of the JD(U) previously won the seat in 2019 and was elected to the Lok Sabha.

In order to present Singh with a formidable challenge this time, the BJP is seeking a capable candidate. According to reports, it attempted to contact two Bahubalis of Munger to challenge Lalan Singh in the 2024 Lok Sabha election, but they declined the offers.

There is currently talk that Lalan Singh from Munger may face competition from either Giriraj Singh, the Union minister in the Narendra Modi administration, or Rakesh Sinha.

The BJP is also attempting to sway voters in other neighbouring areas. Neeraj Kumar, the JD(U) MLC and party spokesperson, responded to Shah's rally by saying: "Amit Shah is the country's home minister and he may travel wherever. Just be honest with the Bihar people, I urge you. He claimed that an airport had been built there when he arrived in Purnea.
