New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will make a statement in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha about the Nagaland shooting incident. The Parliament's winter session began on November 29 and will end on December 23.
On Saturday, some Naga youth were reportedly slain in Oting village in Nagaland's Mon district when security personnel suspected them of being terrorists fired at them. Irate villagers reportedly set fire to security cars, and some persons were shot as security officers opened fire to pacify the enraged throng.
On Sunday, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio ordered a high-level investigation into reports of security forces killing civilians, and the government has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into the subject. The Indian Army has expressed regret for the event and stated that it is being thoroughly probed.
The state administration banned all mobile internet, data services, and bulk SMS from all providers in the whole Mon district with immediate effect on Sunday, a day after security personnel were accused of killing civilians. Shah expressed his sorrow over the incident on Sunday and offered condolences to the deceased families.
