Puducherry: The  Union Home Minister Amit Shah will conduct roadshows in support of the Bharatiya Janata Party candidates in some selected areas here on Thursday.

According to a programme chart released to the media by the BJP office on Wednesday, the  Home Minister will arrive at the Puducherry Airport at 0930 hours and later have a darshan at Sithahanda temple.

Thereafter, he will take part in roadshows in support of the BJP candidates in these constituencies -  Lawspet Constituency (Saminathan), Kamaraj Nagar Constituency (John Kumar) and Kalapet constituency (Kalyanasundaram).

The Minister will leave for Thirukoyilur in Tamil Nadu at 1135 hours from Puducherry Airport. The Assembly election in Union territories will be held on April 6 and the counting of votes will be taken up on May 2.

Also, on Mach 30,  PM Narendra Modi visited the poll-bound states Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry to campaign for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

On Tuesday,  the Union Health Ministry had announced that India recorded 56,211 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The country also witnessed 37,028 recoveries along with 271 deaths. India's total coronavirus caseload has now increased to 1,20,95,855, of which, 5,40,720 are active cases.
