DAKSHINA KANNADA: Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, will make his first his first visit to the communally sensitive coastal region on February 11 ahead of the Assembly polls.

Shah will visit Puttur town in the Dakshina Kannada district to participate in the Central Arecanut and Cocoa Marketing and Processing Co-operative Limited's golden jubilee festivities (Campko).

The state's Dakshina Kannada district, which has seen retaliation killings, is regarded as one of the most sensitive communal areas. Given that there are only two months until the Assembly elections, the Minister's visit becomes significant.

The coastal region of Karnataka is a BJP stronghold and is regarded as the state's "Hindutva" research facility. The area will be covered in national media due to racial tension and moral policing. When speaking about moral policing, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that there will be a reactionary move.

The statement was criticised by opposition parties saying that the Chief Minister's statement had made Hindutva forces in the region emboldened. They also claimed that this encouragement had resulted in revenge killings.

Amit Shah is prepared to deliver a message in coastal Karnataka after visiting the Mandya district in the state's south and the Belagavi, Hubballi, and Dharwad districts in the north.

At the Puttur taluk panchayat office, BJP MLA Sanjeeva Mathandur organised a meeting of government employees and police officers to discuss the preparations for the arrival of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

MLA Sanjeeva Mathandur said that one lakh people from the surrounding region will attend a public rally which is going to be attended by Amit Shah.
