HUBBALLI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah today called on the youth to start thinking new and take up challenges to succeed in their respective professions and also contribute towards taking New India to new heights.

The Union Minister was inaugurating the platinum jubilee celebrations of BV Bhoomaraddi College of Engineering and Technology after launching the new sports complex built at a cost of Rs26 crore on the college campus in Hubballi on Saturday.

Established in Gadag in 1946 and shifted to Hubballi in 1947, BV Bommaraddi college was the second prominent engineering college to be set up in the Bombay Province after Pune. Amit Shah is  inaugurating the new sports complex built to mark the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of BV Bhoomaraddi College of Engineering & Technology in Hubballi today.

Speaking of the change brought about by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who lay the groundwork for 'Greater Bharat,' the Union minister urged youth to remember the sacrifices of freedom warriors for whom they live in Independent India.

"Whatever heights you attain, remember your motherland and always contribute to its growth. You work hard not just to become the greatest technocrat, but also to help India become a stronger technological power in the globe. Whatever you do, make sure it contributes to propelling the country forward," he urged.

The union minister said he had come to Hubballi to meet the youth and listed out the several initiatives taken by PM Modi for the youth of the India, including Make In India, Digital India,  Fit India, Khelo India, Mudra scheme and many more!

He also elaborated on the expansion of start-ups in India, stating that the number of start-ups in the country had increased from 2,000 in 2014 to 70,000 by 2023. Thirty percent of them were founded by young women. "Previously, 3,000 patent applications were filed; presently, 1.5 lakh applications have been filed. "Of these, 24,000 have registered patents, demonstrating the accomplishment of the youth in research and development," he stated.
