Bangalore:  The Bangalore civic body has issued a notice curbing the sale of non-vegetarian dishes within 10 kilometers of the Yelahanka Air Force Station in view of the Aero India 2023.

The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike issued a notice to hotels and proprietors of meat stalls near the Yelahanka Air Force Station to discontinue the sale of meat and non-vegetarian dishes from January 30 to February 20.

"It is informed that, Aero India-2023 show is scheduled to be held at Air force station Yelahanka from 13.02.2023 to 17.02.2023. On account of this,   it is brought to the general public's attention, as well as the proprietors of meat stalls and non-vegetarian hotels/restaurants, that all meat/chicken/fish shops will be closed, and serving/sale of non-vegetarian dishes will be prohibited within a 10-kilometer radius of Air Force Station Yelahanka from January 30th to February 20th, 2023 "the notice stated.

Any breach will result in a fine under the BBMP Act 2020 and Indian Aircraft Rules 1937 Rule 91 "The notification was updated.

According to BBMP authorities, the decision was made because non-vegetarian food left in public places attracts a large number of scavenger birds, particularly kites, which might cause mid-air catastrophes.

The 14th Aero India will be place from February 13 to 17 at the Air Force Station in Yelahanka. The five-day event, organised by the Ministry of Defence's Department of Defence Production in Bangalore, will include a major trade exhibition of the aerospace and defence industries as well as an aerial demonstration by the Indian Air Force.
