15 Assam Rifles soldier on duty in violence-hit Manipur started firing indiscriminately at his comrades before shooting himself. In this, two soldiers lost their lives on the spot, while five other soldiers were injured. The injured are being treated and everyone's condition is said to be stable. The incident took place in Sajik Tampak area of ​​Chandel district of Manipur late on Tuesday night. Police gave this information on Wednesday.

Reports say that Assam Rifles has not yet confirmed the death of the two soldiers. Whereas Manipur Police has said that this unfortunate incident should not be linked to the ongoing caste conflict. According to the information received so far, on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, Havildar Sangpi Byte, a soldier of 15 Assam Rifles posted at Ranatop post in Sajik Tampak of Chandel district of Manipur, started firing several bullets. 

Not only this, before shooting his colleagues, a heated argument broke out between them at the camp site. Amidst the argument he suddenly fired indiscriminately at his companions. In this, 5 soldiers of Assam Rifles were injured by bullets. It is also learned that two soldiers succumbed to their injuries. However, its official confirmation has not been received yet from Assam Rifles. According to police sources, he later shot himself. The injured soldiers are being taken by helicopter to the military hospital for further treatment.
