Guwahati: Notorious Global Terrorist Osama bin Laden is dead, but the terror of this name continues in Assam even today. People start trembling as soon as they hear this name. An elephant named after the infamous terrorist Ladenin is wreaking havoc in Gwalpada district of Assam. This elephant has killed more than 50 people in the last few years.
In the last two days, Laden has killed five people. Forest officials said on Wednesday said that three women and a minor were also among the dead. Authorities have said that he crushed a 70-year-old man and injured a child in Batayatari village of the district on Tuesday. While in Shantipurnigam, he trampled an 11-year-old child, while crushing and killing three women in West Matia, Hidhabari and Hasorabari villages.
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has announced a compensation of Rs four lakh to the family of those killed in the attack. Also instructed to track the elephant. At the same time, the villagers have demanded the Gwalpada Forest Board to declare the elephant insane. An attempt is being made to pacify Laden by giving him medicines in the forest of Koinakuchi. According to elephant expert KK Sharma, Laden has ejected from her flock two years ago after a feud with the most powerful male member.
