New York: US Customs and Border Protection officials have found goods from a passenger who returned from India at the International Airport in the suburbs of Washington DC. Officials said there is a ban on cow dung in the US as it is believed to cause highly infectious oral disease.

US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has informed that these have been destroyed. According to a press release issued by the department on Monday, ''It was not written wrong. CBP agricultural experts have found two of the suitcases. According to the statement, the suitcase belongs to a passenger who returned from an Air India flight on April 4. Keith Phleming, acting director of field operations at Baltimore Field Office in CBP, said, "Oral disease is a disease caused by animals, which is most feared by animal owners and is also a threat to customs and border agricultural protection drive".

CBP further said that cow dungs have also been described as an important that gives energy and cooking source in some parts of the world. It is also reportedly used as a 'skin detoxifier', an antimicrobial and fertilizer. According to CBP, even after these benefits, it is prohibited to bring from India due to the risk of oral disease.
