4000 songs, 40 nominations for Filmfare Awards and the magician Anand Bakshi, who wrote the magic of music on films for almost 4 decades, became a golden history in the world of music. Singers like Shamshad Begum, Alka Yagnik, Manna Dey and Kumar Sanu kept coming and going, but Bakshi, who put words to music, always stood in the field. Anand Bakshi was born on 21 July 1930 in Rawalpindi city of present-day Pakistan. How Anand, who worked in the army, became the popular lyricist of India, let us tell you some special things related to him on his birthday...

Anand Bakshi's father was a bank manager in Rawalpindi. As a teenager, Anand joined the army as a telephone operator. But the dream of coming to Bombay (Mumbai) and the world of films kept him tied to it. After the partition, Anand's family came to India as refugees. When nothing happened in Mayanagari, Anand Bakshi rejoined the army and continued to work there for some time. After serving in the army for 3 years, he determined that his life's purpose was to write songs, not to shoot guns. He got the opportunity to write songs for the first time in 1957 but success was not achieved. In 1963, actor and director Raj Kapoor offered him a chance to write the song for his film 'Mehndi Lage Mere Haath.' Thereafter, success never left Anand Bakshi's side.

Films like 'Aradhana', 'Amar Prem' and 'Kati Patang' became the starting milestone of Anand Bakshi's career, whose shoulders rose to become the first superstar of Indian films. Anand Bakshi worked with generations of filmmakers. His biggest quality was that the tone of his songs kept changing with time.
