ANDHRA PRADESH: Adani Group would expand its footprint in Andhra Pradesh by building two new cement manufacturing units, 15,000 MW of renewable energy projects, and a data centre, a source familiary with the development said.
Speaking at the Andhra Pradesh Global Investors Summit, Karan Adani, founder family's scion said that the Adani group intended to quadruple the capacity of the two seaports it ran in the state at Gangavaram and Krishnapatnam.
The further investments would be made on top of the 20,000 crore already made in the state, which resulted in the creation of more than 18,000 direct and 54,000 indirect jobs.
The business would also build a 400 Megawatt data centre in Visakhapatnam in addition to cement factories in the state of Kadappa and Nadikudi with a combined capacity of 10 million tonnes per year.
Interestingly, this is the Adani family's first public appearance in the nation since a devastating study by a US short-seller sparked a USD 140 billion decline in the value of the shares of the group's publicly traded enterprises.
During a comparable investor gathering that the Uttar Pradesh government held in Lucknow last month, Senior Adani was noticeably absent. Attended the previous UP investor summit was Gautam Adani.
Karan Adani said, Adani Group now operates the two largest private ports in Andhra Pradesh - Krishnapatnam and Gangavaram, with a total capacity of 100 million tonnes per annum. "In addition to doubling this capacity over the next five years, we also want to develop these ports into industrial port cities. We will be able to significantly lower the logistics costs by creating industrial clusters in Krishnapatnam and Gangavaram and luring businesses there, making these sectors much more competitive on a global scale" he added.
Also, over the next few years, the group will be building 15,000 MW of renewable energy projects in the five districts of Anantapur, Kadappa, Kurnool, Visakhapatnam, and Vizianagaram.
Moreover, the group is constructing a 400 Megawatt data centre near Visakhapatnam. These initiatives will increase employment possibilities and show our dedication to Andhra Pradesh's long-term development."
He added that the teams are carrying out projects in the districts of Nellore, Tirupati, and Visakhapatnam. The group is also making investments in the state's education, healthcare, nutrition, access to clean water, sports, and ecosystem for skill development. We currently have over 4200 crore invested in the state, touching over 180,000 lives and counting.
Education initiatives that range across schools, 32 evening education centres with scholarship programmes, and the distribution of education kits are among the social intervention and outreach projects it offers in 74 communities.
"In order to transform people's life and means of subsistence in the state, we will keep working with the administration. We are honoured to contribute to Andhra Pradesh's sustainable growth" he added.
