AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister Buggana Rajendernath presented the budget for the fiscal year 2022-23 on Friday, with a budget of Rs 2,56,257 crore, up 11.50 percent from the previous year.

The revenue outlay is anticipated to be Rs 2,08,261 crore, while the capital outlay is estimated to be Rs 47,996 crore. The income shortfall is expected to be about Rs 17,036 crore, up from Rs 5,000 crore last year, while the fiscal deficit is expected to be around Rs 48,724 crore, up from Rs 37,030 crore.

The finance minister, presenting his fourth budget in a row, dedicated the lion's share to social welfare, in line with the Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy-led government's goals and priorities. Agriculture would receive Rs 11,387 crore, while medical and health services will receive Rs 15,384 crore, up from Rs 13,830 crore in FY 2021-22.

The sub-plan for Scheduled Castes (SCs) is Rs 18,518 crore, Rs 6,145 crore for Scheduled Tribes (STs), Rs 29,143.65 crore for Backward Classes (BCs), and Rs 3,532 crore for minorities. Minority funding has been reduced from Rs 3,841 crore in the previous fiscal year. The government has budgeted Rs 6,693 crore for the welfare of the Economically Backward Classes (EBCs), up from Rs 5,478 crore in 2021-22. Secondary education would receive Rs 22,706 crore, and higher education will receive Rs 2,104 crore, said the finance minister.
