Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) won their opening match aginst Sunrisers Hyderabad and its Andre Russell who helped the team in chasing massive target. Chasing a target of 182, KKR needed 58 runs off 18 balls to win the match as the task seemed impossible. But Russell stepped up and smashed an unbeaten 19-ball 49 to chase down the target. Such was the ferocity of the innings that KKR coach and cricket legend Jacques Kallis hailed Rusell as one of the most powerful hitters he has ever seen.
This what Yuvraj Singh revealed about his retirement
Kallis told, "In terms of finishing, he is one of the most powerful hitters that I have seen. He further added "It was a good knock. He timed it well. And there were issues, the light wasn't incredible. But it was some of the best ball striking I have seen in a long time.”
Kallis, however, refused to compare Rusell with Gayle as both the power-hitters bat at very different positions. He said, “He is certainly up there. It's a very different role when you are batting down the order at No. 6, 7 or 8 as compared to facing the new ball. So it's difficult to compare new ball batters with old ball batsmen
KKR will now lock horns with Kings XI Punjab on Wednesday.
